Subject: Application for Marketing Manager – Priya Raman, Leeds

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Marketing Manager role at Brightfield Home Goods. I enjoy turning a clear brand message into campaigns that customers respond to, and I would like to bring that approach to your growing online homeware range.

In my current role I coordinate weekly email and social campaigns, working from the editorial calendar and brand guidelines. I rebuilt our landing page testing routine in HubSpot and Google Analytics, and A/B tests on headlines and offers lifted email click-through rates over two quarters.

Your advert mentions balancing paid search, paid social and email under one budget. I have managed all three, using Google Ads and Salesforce CRM data to see which channels bring repeat customers. I also present results and risks to senior colleagues each quarter in plain language.

Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the chance to discuss how my experience could support Brightfield's plans, and I am happy to share examples of campaign reports. I can be reached at your convenience.

Kind regards, Priya Raman

This letter is fictional and written for illustration. Replace every name, company, date and number with your own facts.

  • Name one channel mix or tool stack from the job advert, such as paid search plus email, and show you have used it rather than listing every tool you know.
  • Quote results with context, for example the metric, the period and what you changed, and avoid vague claims like 'boosted engagement'.
  • Show you can work with both numbers and creative: mention one test or report alongside one piece of content you shaped.
  • Mention budget or team responsibility honestly, even if small, so the reader can judge the scale of your experience.
  • Research the employer's products and audience, then write one sentence on how you would approach their marketing, without promising specific outcomes.
How long should a Marketing Manager cover letter be?

Aim for one page, around 250 to 350 words. Four short paragraphs are enough to state the role, give evidence, explain your fit and ask for a conversation.

Should I include figures from past campaigns?

Yes, where you can share them honestly and without breaching confidentiality. Use percentages or ranges with a time frame, and explain your contribution rather than claiming results the whole team achieved.

Do I need to repeat my CV in the letter?

No. Pick one or two achievements that match the role and explain them briefly. Leave the full list of tools, jobs and dates to your CV, and use the letter to show your thinking and priorities.
