This example is fictional and written for illustration. Replace every name, company, date and number with your own facts.

  • Name the data sources and tools in each bullet, such as BigQuery tables or Tableau extracts, so recruiters can match your stack to the job.
  • Pair each dashboard you list with its audience and what they decided or stopped doing because of it.
  • Report experiment work with the number of tests, the metric moved and the size of the change, rather than saying you supported testing.
  • Show data cleaning as an outcome, such as hours saved or error rates reduced, since employers rarely see that work.
  • Include one bullet showing you explained findings to non-technical people, with the decision or action that followed.
Should a data analyst resume include a portfolio link?

Yes, if it holds work you can share publicly, such as a cleaned public dataset with a dashboard or short write-up. Keep it to one or two strong projects and make sure the link works.

How do I show impact if my numbers are small?

Use honest, modest figures such as hours saved, reports retired or a percentage change in a metric. A believable number with clear context reads better than a large claim you cannot explain.

How many tools should I list in skills?

List the 8 to 10 you can use confidently in an interview, led by SQL and your main visualization tool. Leave out tools you have only opened once, because interviewers often ask about them.
