This example is fictional and written for illustration. Replace every name, company, date and number with your own facts.

  • Name the setting and patient group, such as inpatient older adults or community long-term conditions, so reviewers see the scope of your clinical judgement.
  • Quantify interventions with a count and timeframe, for example issues resolved per week, rather than saying you improved patient safety.
  • List regulatory registration and extra qualifications, such as GPhC status or independent prescribing, in a clearly visible place near the top.
  • Describe how you worked with prescribers, nurses and technicians, since pharmacy roles depend on safe handovers and clear communication.
  • Separate dispensing duties from clinical contributions like stewardship, audits or counselling, so your higher-level work is not buried in routine tasks.
Should I list the dispensing systems I have used?

Yes, briefly. Naming systems such as electronic prescribing or patient medication records helps recruiters match your experience. Put them in the skills section and mention one in a bullet where it supported an outcome.

How do I show clinical impact without patient details?

Use anonymised, aggregate figures: number of interventions, error reductions or patients vaccinated. Never include identifiable patient information. Describe the type of issue and what changed as a result.

How long should a pharmacist resume be?

One to two pages is typical. Early-career pharmacists can usually fit everything on one page, while those with several roles, audits or prescribing qualifications may need two. Prioritise recent, relevant clinical work.
